چکیده

Statistical model-checking is a recent technique used for both verification and performance analysis of hybrid systems. It does not suffer from decidability issues or state-space explosion compared to traditional model-checking. Furthermore, it is applicable to more powerful formalisms such as stochastic hybrid automata. Its principle is simple so how simple is it really to make it work in practice? In this extended abstract, we raise a number of practical issue, some of them disconnected from the underlying theory, and show how they are addressed in Uppaal SMC.

A short introduction to two approaches in formal verification of security protocols: model checking and theorem proving

In this paper, we shortly review two formal approaches in verification of security protocols; model checking and theorem proving. Model checking is based on studying the behavior of protocols via generating all different behaviors of a protocol and checking whether the desired goals are satisfied in all instances or not. We investigate Scyther operational semantics as n example of this...

A Hybrid Meta-heuristic Approach to Cope with State Space Explosion in Model Checking Technique for Deadlock Freeness

Model checking is an automatic technique for software verification through which all reachable states are generated from an initial state to finding errors and desirable patterns. In the model checking approach, the behavior and structure of system should be modeled. Graph transformation system is a graphical formal modeling language to specify and model the system. However, modeling of large s...

Reachability checking in complex and concurrent software systems using intelligent search methods

Software system verification is an efficient technique for ensuring the correctness of a software product, especially in safety-critical systems in which a small bug may have disastrous consequences. The goal of software verification is to ensure that the product fulfills the requirements. Studies show that the cost of finding and fixing errors in design time is less than finding and fixing the...

Dependability Analysis of Control Systems using SystemC and Statistical Model Checking

Stochastic Petri nets are commonly used for modeling distributed systems in order to study their performance and dependability. This paper proposes a realization of stochastic Petri nets in SystemC for modeling large embedded control systems. Then statistical model checking is used to analyze the dependability of the constructed model. Our verification framework allows users to express a wide r...

Statistical Model Checking of Markov Chains using Perfect Simulation

In this paper, we propose to perform the statistical model checking of Markov chains by generating sample paths by means of perfect simulation. The model checking of probabilistic models by statistical methods has received increasing attention in the last years since they provide an interesting alternative to the model checking by numerical methods which is poorly scalable with the increasing m...
